Preschool Teacher

Hello, I am Darpreet Virdi the Preschool Teacher in Preschool 2. As the teacher I am preparing the children for school ensuring that they have the basic understanding and skills required to support them in their learning, both academically and emotionally as the move from nursery to school is such a big step for the children.

I organise activities for the children to engage in to encourage excitement, enjoyment, curiosity and challenging experiences  spanning across the six learning areas; personal, social and emotional development, communication, language and literacy, problem solving, reasoning and numeracy, knowledge and understanding of the world, physical development and creative
development.


In preparing for school we also focus on becoming independent, learning letters and sounds as well as counting and recognition of numbers and shapes.

In addition to working with the children, I am currently working on building links with the local schools that the children will be attending. This is to support the children, parents, carers and teachers in enabling a smooth transition from one setting to the other. Collaborating in this way ensures that the children are ready and are at the stage where the school would like them to be to continue the development and learning smoothly.
